IT之家了解到，尼克尔 Z 400mm f / 4.5 VR S 是一款长焦 400mm 镜头，重量约 1160 克（不包括三脚架转接环），全长约 234.5mm。
尼克尔 Z 400mm f / 4.5 VR S 属于 S-型镜头系列。由 1 枚低色散（ED）镜片、2 枚加强型低色散（ED）镜片和 1 枚蓝光高折射（SR）镜片有效排列构成。纳米水晶涂层的采用还有助于有效减少鬼影和眩光效果。
尼克尔 Z 400mm f / 4.5 VR S 的最大光圈为 f / 4.5，还配备了光学减震 （VR） 装置，可提供相当于快门速度提升约 5.5 档的抖动补偿效果，这是尼克尔 Z 镜头中最高的。步进电机 （STM） 支持自动对焦（AF）控制，以捕捉不规则移动的对象，包括拍摄体育运动的对象。
