7月14日消息，据中国科学报报道，中国科学院紫金山天文台（以下简称紫金山天文台）行星科学和深空探测研究部联合国内外研究团队，以我国新疆阿勒泰超长铁陨石陨落带为研究对象：
创新性提出小行星低仰角撞击的“打水漂”式轨道陨落机制，揭示了这一全球最长陨落带的形成原因。
据报道，我国新疆阿勒泰地区陆续发现了28吨、23吨、18吨、5吨、0.43吨等多块大质量铁陨石，截至目前发现的铁陨石总质量超过了74吨。
阿勒泰铁陨石陨落带总长达430千米， 从新疆木垒县沿西北方向一直贯穿至阿勒泰市郊小东沟附近，是世界上最长的陨落带。
