Lonely Hackers Club Badge with Hidden Directions to the DEF CON 30 LHC Meetup

This is an unofficial DEF CON Lonely Hackers Club badge designed by myself, V3rbaal & c0ldbru. The badge has 3 surface-mount LEDs, 3 resistors, a 2 x 3V CR2032 Coin Cell battery holder and (4) badge-side SAO connectors. (2) CR2032 batteries and 1 lanyard are included. Assembly was done completely by hand and took more hours than I'd like to admit.

There is a hidden cryptographic challenge within the badge that leads points to the Lonely Hackers Club meetup at DEF CON.

For those that may not be aware, here is a brief history of The Lonely Hackers Club

LHC is a Telegram channel that was formed prior to DEF CON 25. This was my first year and I happened to stumble onto a Reddit post in R/Defcon that basically said "If you want to meet others going to DEF CON, join this Telegram channel." I didn't know anyone else IRL that was going so this was perfect.

When I joined, there were only 3-4 members but the channel grew super fast. Within a couple days we were over-ran by what I can only assume was 4chan's /b/. In layman's terms, /b/ is the asshole of the internet. We were terrorized and it was hilarious. Did you know that you can receive phone calls over Telegram? While driving home from work I received a Telegram call from a couple guys making a poor trolling attempt. We spoke about our favorite sandwich toppings for a brief time then hung up.

It was at this time that we quickly realized we'd need to form a group of Admins to get this madhouse under control.

The OG Admin group consisted of: AWOL, DevNull42, SunStrid3r, Altezza, Keramas, Bogobog, Winyl, Hamy, SapiTim and myself.

As DEF CON 25 rolled around we were hovering between 50-75 LHC members. The 10 of us Admins ended up spending every minute of DEF CON together and piled into the same hotel room. It was the greatest time ever.

After Con we all departed back to our corners of the globe. We stayed in touch every day throughout the year and became close friends.

LHC grew a bit more into a few hundred and the following year we threw a big official DEF CON party. It took place at the Flamingo and just as the DJ was going on a sandstorm blew out all of the doors to the hotel. Naturally, we kicked the party off with Darude Sandstorm. It was fucking chaos and just as perfect as could be.

As the years went on we lost our dear friend DevNull42 (https://twitter.com/d3vnull42). Since then, we've added others to the Admin team. LHC sits between 400-500 members, V3rbaal & I were married in the Blue Team Village and The Lonely Hackers Club has since put out a N00b Guide (https://lonelyhackers.club/post/defconguide/)

We stand today to serve as an onramp into the hacker community. A place to meet others that share the same interests. A place to make friends and a place to feel home. We are The Lonely Hackers Club.
