PocketBase

Open Source realtime backend in 1 file

PocketBase is an open source Go backend that has embedded realtime database, files and users management, admin UI and REST-ish API, all compiled in 1 portable executable. You could think of it as a lightweight alternative to Firebase or Supabase.

Hi ProductHunt!

I just wanted to share PocketBase (https://github.com/pocketbase/po...) - a new open source project that I've been working on for the last couple of months.

In short, PocketBase is a Go backend (framework and app) that includes: - embedded database with realtime subscriptions - built-in files and users management - convenient Admin dashboard UI - simple REST-ish API

And all of this compiles in a single portable executable.

It's still at a very early development stage, but you could give it a try and share your feedback.

p.s. Yesterday I also posted it on hackernews, so you could also check the discussions there too - https://news.ycombinator.com/ite....

Please could you explain what exactly is meant by "1 file"? Props on the release, definitely something to try for my next project.

@shauntrennery PocketBase compiles into 1 static binary/executable that includes everything you may need to run the application.

This means that you don't have to install or rely on external services (even the database is embedded) and your application can be deployed by just uploading the executable on any server.

If you need to execute custom code, you can always embed PocketBase in your existing Go application (see https://pocketbase.io/docs/use-a...).
