Line spacing arrives in PowerPoint for iPad

The new PowerPoint feature on iPad

Microsoft has just announced a new feature for PowerPoint for iPad, and according to the company itself, it’s one of the most requested additions.

The software giant has therefore added line spacing to the feature arsenal of PowerPoint on Apple’s iPad, and just as expected, it comes with a series of options, including line spacing before and after paragraphs, within blocks of text, almost just like on desktop computers.

And similar to the desktop sibling, the line spacing feature is available via a dedicated button on the home tab in the ribbon.

“We heard you! The ability to set the line spacing on your slides exactly as you like it is a top user request for PowerPoint for iPad. You’re now able to customize the line spacing before and after paragraphs, within blocks of text, and more,” Microsoft announced.

“To change the line spacing on your slide, select the text and tap the Line Spacing button on the Home tab, and then select the spacing setting you want.”

If you want to try out the feature, line spacing in PowerPoint for iPad is live for insiders for the time being, but of course, it will go live for all users once the testing is complete.

Rollout taking place in stages

The build that includes line spacing is version 2.59 build 22030101.

Worth knowing, however, is that joining the Insider program right now doesn’t guarantee you’ll be getting the line spacing on iPad. The rollout takes place in stages, as Microsoft says it first wants to make sure everything is running properly before all insiders can try it out.

“Features are released over some time to ensure things are working smoothly. We highlight features that you may not have because they’re slowly releasing to larger numbers of Insiders. Sometimes we remove elements to further improve them based on your feedback. Though this is rare, we also reserve the option to pull a feature entirely out of the product, even if you, as an Insider, have had the opportunity to try it,” Microsoft explains.
