A larger Apple Watch is apparently coming

   Apple Watch Series 7

We’ve known for a while that Apple was working on a rugged version of the Apple Watch, and while the company has so far remained completely tight-lipped on everything related to this device, more information keeps surfacing through unofficial channels.

This time, we’re getting a closer look at the screen size of the new Apple Watch, with display analyst Ross Young revealing on Twitter that the smartwatch is likely to sport a display measuring no more, no less than 1.99 inches.

Needless to say, a 2-inch Apple Watch is going to be a massive upgrade from the current screens measuring 1.691 inches on the 41mm Apple Watch Series 7 and 1.901 inches on the 45mm sibling. As per MacRumors, this would mean the new Apple Watch could come with a screen that’s larger by as much as 5 percent.

At first glance, this doesn’t seem much, but the increased screen estate will come with a series of benefits on the new Apple Watch, as it could allow for more complications to be displayed on the screen.

Larger screen, bigger battery impact

However, a larger screen could have a bigger impact on the battery life, so now there’s concern that the new Apple Watch Pro could come with a similar battery life despite a larger unit under the hood.

At this point, Apple Watch offers 18 hours of battery life per charge, but thanks to a larger battery, the Pro model launching this year is expected to offer increased autonomy. However, because of a larger screen, the battery life could be impacted as well, so it remains to be seen if any notable improvement on this front can still be offered.

The new watches should see the daylight in September this year, with the sales to kick off later the same month or in early October.
