The term “gaming” means different things to different people. Between video games becoming a staple activity during the pandemic and the rest of the world realizing board games aren’t just for nerds, “gaming” is more popular than ever. Check out Postman’s latest group of gaming-related APIs— then try them out by forking their collections to your own workspace and join the gaming craze.

  • Board Game Atlas
If you’re looking to find new board games based on a set of specific criteria, the Board Game Atlas API has you covered. By specifying player count and maximum game time, you can get a list of new potential games to play, including how much the games cost. Find your next board game night activity in this community-created Board Game Atlast collection.
  • Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the latest addition to the adorable Animal Crossing franchise. Blending cute animals and characters with everyday chores in this life simulator may sound mundane, but it’s one of the most addicting video games out there. Postman Technical Enablement Architect Carson Hunter took the liberty of downloading the ACNH Swagger file and importing it into Postman to generate a collection in the ACNH public workspace. Explore it today to get info on all the different bugs, songs, and villagers in the game.
  • Pokemon API
Continuing the theme of adorable fictional creatures, the PokeAPI is a common API for folks to test out when getting started with APIs. While the majority of users access the Pokemon data through the RESTful API, a neat feature of this API is that it also supports GraphQL queries. Take a look at this GraphQL API definition the Postman developer relations team made for the PokeAPI. Copy and paste the schema into your own API builder and generate a collection from it to play around with it today.
  • Blizzard
Even if you’re not familiar with the company Blizzard, you’ve probably heard of some of the legendary games the team has built. From the Diablo series to World of Warcraft to Overwatch, Blizzard’s creations have been fan favorites for multiple decades now. If you’re looking to programmatically show off your gaming cred, take a look at the Blizzard public workspace featuring APIs for some of the most popular Blizzard games. This is another example of an unofficial workspace created by Postman Chief Evangelist Kin Lane, but the API functionality works just the same.
  • Call of Duty
Another game that has crossed the mainstream threshold, the Call of Duty API collection is yet another community-created resource. Use this collection to set up authentication and then start getting detailed information about matches, leaderboards, and maps. While you’re at it, try to set up a leaderboard chart of all your friends in the Postman Visualizer.

There’s an API for everything in the Postman API Network! This hand-picked list is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of gaming APIs. Learn about their tech, explore their APIs for free, and don’t forget about other Postman-featured APIs, workspaces, and collections in the Public API Network. And if you have other gaming APIs to recommend, let us know in the comments below.
