Blumhouse movies join Halloween Horror Nights while Disney Parks are starting to tease winter festivities.

It’s the battle of the holiday announcements at the theme parks! The Horrors of Blumhouse is the latest house to be added to Halloween Horror Nights for Universal Studios’ annual fall haunt event. Meanwhile it’s beginning to look a lot like halfway to Christmas at Disneyland and the Walt Disney World Resort. And look out for Ms. Marvel on the newest Disney Cruise liner.

Blumhouse

The Horrors of Blumhouse - Halloween Horror Nights 2022

Both Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Orlando will be welcoming Horror Nights fans to the Horrors of Blumhouse, with a maze featuring the Grabber from The Black Phone and the body-swapping serial killer teen from Freaky. Horror Nights start September 2 at Universal Orlando Resort with select ticket packages available now, and September 8 at Universal Studios Hollywood with all tickets now on sale.

Minions x Verdy

Streetwear company Verdy recently collaborated on an exclusive Universal Studios Hollywood drop with a clothing line celebrating the Minions. It was available in the theme park only and sold out within a couple days. The Minions release followed a capsule collection focusing on the Universal Monsters created by the Hundreds x Tristan Eaton.

Movie Escape Rooms

Unique to Citywalk at Universal Studios Orlando, two new escape rooms are on the way themed after Back to the Future and Jurassic World. I’m excited for time travel fun with Doc Brown but count me out on stealing a locust from Biosyn unless Laura Dern is really there with me.

Fourth of July

July Fourth festivities are back on at Universal Studios Hollywood with live DJs and a fireworks spectacular to cap off the night.

Midsummer Scream

At the end of July, the Midsummer Scream convention kicks off the fall season in the dead of summer with panels centered around all things horror and haunts. This year Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights creative director John Murdy returns to take attendees behind the scenes of the annual event with some surprises—maybe even a new house announcement.

Area 15

Las Vegas immersive hub Area 15 is hosting screenings of cinema classics like Jurassic Park with themed environments and drinks.

Shaq Takes Over Halloween

Lakers superstar and Kazaam genie Shaq is going into the Halloween haunt business. Not many details have been revealed other than it appears that his event will take place alongside the historic haunted ship the Queen Mary, which used to run the annual Dark Harbor event that will not be returning this year.

Ms. Marvel Takes a Cruise

Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Wish, will feature an exclusive interactive dinner experience where the Avengers will battle on the high seas. Joining previously announced talent like Paul Rudd and Brie Larson (virtually) reprising their roles as Ant-Man and Captain Marvel is Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel in what may be her first Avengers outing—which is kind of a weird place to debut the hero alongside the line-up.

Halfway To The Holidays at Walt Disney World

The Walt Disney World-exclusive Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at the Magic Kingdom will be coming back to offer its annual after-hours holiday event on select nights this fall and winter. Tickets go on sale July 7.

Disneyland Holidays Will Light Up The Skies

Seasonal nighttime favorites “Believe… In Holiday Magic” fireworks at Disneyland and “World of Color – Season of Light”! at California Adventure are scheduled to return this November and run through early January 2023.
