One Reason Obsidian is So Amazing

Here's a relatively innocuous video of Obsidian:

What makes this so amazing is that from within Obsidian for my iPhone, I was able to check for updates to my third party plugins and install those plugins right from the phone.

And not only did they install here, but because of the way Obsidian is built, this installs these updates on my iPad and Mac as well, so these plugins will be up to date the next time I use Obsidian on any of those devices in the future.

I'm writing about this because while the idea of updating an app on my phone and getting that update on my other devices without needing to do anything there is novel in and of itself, but it's even more unusual on iOS. I'm so used to enhancements to the apps I use on my iPhone and iPad to be locked to the App Store, but that's not how it always works in Obsidian. Yes, updates to the core app must still go through app review, but meaningful changes can be made right from the app without any middlemen, and that's just worth noting in an ecosystem where that's generally seen as too dangerous to exist.
