AWS 在同一區不同 AZ 頻寬費用的特別地方

剛好在處理 AWS 同一個 region 下不同 AZ 之間的傳輸費用,跟帳單互相比對,查了以後才發現跟想像中不一樣,這邊以 EC2 為例子,可以參考「Amazon EC2 On-Demand Pricing」這頁裡面的說明。

從 Internet 端進 AWS 的流量是不計費的:

Data Transfer IN To Amazon EC2 From Internet
All data transfer in $0.00 per GB

但從 AZ 進到另外一個 AZ 時,in 與 out 都要收費:

Data transferred "in" to and "out" from Amazon EC2, Amazon RDS, Amazon Redshift, Amazon DynamoDB Accelerator (DAX), and Amazon ElastiCache instances, Elastic Network Interfaces or VPC Peering connections across Availability Zones in the same AWS Region is charged at $0.01/GB in each direction.

所以直接用 US$0.01/GB 的計算是不夠的,得用 US$0.02/GB 來計算。

同樣的,如果是 Public IP 與 Elastic IP 也都是雙向收費,跨 VPC 也是雙向收費,所以都要用 US$0.02/GB 來算:

IPv4: Data transferred “in” to and “out” from public or Elastic IPv4 address is charged at $0.01/GB in each direction.
IPv6: Data transferred “in” to and “out” from an IPv6 address in a different VPC is charged at $0.01/GB in each direction.

建立 Amazon VPC 的 High Availability NAT 架構

在 Amazon VPC 的架構裡最讓人碎碎唸的一個架構:NAT instance。 Amazon VPC 分成 Public Network 與 Private Network。 前者的 Public Network,裡面的機器除了會有 Private IP 外,需要申請 Public IP (可以是隨機分配,也可以是 Elastic IP) 透過 Intenet Gateway (沒有 NAT 功能) 連外,這邊問題比較小,因為 Routing Table 設一下就好了,High Availability 以及 Scalablility 的問題 AWS 會自己解決掉。 後者 Private Network 因為需要自己架設 NAT instance,所以要自己處理 High Availability 以及 Scalability…

AWS 允許 Hybrid Cloud 下的 DNS Query

AWS 對於 Hybrid Cloud (混合雲,通常是講與傳統機房的混搭應用,也就是雲端跟地端的混搭) 推出兩個功能,一個是讓 AWS 的 DNS Resolver 對於某些 domain 可以回機房端查詢 (雲端查詢地端 domain)。另外一種是反過來,讓機房端的 DNS Resolver 可以查 AWS 這邊的資料 (地端查詢雲端 domain):「New – Amazon Route 53 Resolver for Hybrid Clouds」。 兩者都可以自己幹,但就得花功夫自己架設,而且有很多細節得處理: 建立 EC2 instance,在上面跑 Unbound,然後 EC2 instance 的 DNS servers 設定要指到這邊。 由於 EC2 的 DHCP 服務沒有辦法指定發放的 IP range,所以為了多重意外而中獎 (關機的時候剛好有其他機器 DHCP…
