Oppo Reno 8 Pro global version will not use the new Snapdragon 7 Gen 1

Oppo Reno 8 Pro

Last month, Oppo introduced three new mid-range smartphones in China, the Reno 8, Reno 8 Pro and Reno 8 Pro+. These have made a remarkable entry into the market thanks to their attractive price-quality ratio; but above all thanks to the introduction of Qualcomm’s new processor. Indeed, the Reno 8 Pro was the first smartphone to be powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC; a slower version of the high-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

However, it seems that the Oppo Reno 8 Pro will never arrive in global markets; or at least not with the same technical characteristics as the model released in China. According to a Geekbench benchmark spotted by our colleagues at MySmartPrice, the Oppo Reno 8 Pro which will arrive in other countries will not use Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, but a MediaTek Dimensity 8100 processor.

The Oppo Reno 8 Pro spotted on the benchmark with its model number CPH2357 could ultimately be the Reno 8 Pro+ released in China; which uses a MediaTek Dimensity 8100. The model with a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 could therefore not arrive under the same name in global markets; or even not come at all.

The Oppo Reno 8 Pro global version will be the Chinese Reno Pro+

As a reminder, the Oppo Reno 8 Pro + is slightly more interesting than its little brother; since it uses a 6.7-inch 120 Hz AMOLED FHD + screen. Its particularity is that it offers much narrower borders than most of its competitors. The rest of the configuration is quite similar, we find a 4500 mAh battery with 80 W fast charging.

On the camera side, the smartphone will bet on the MariSilicon X chip of the Oppo Find X5 and on a configuration with three cameras, with a main sensor of 50 MP IMX766, an ultra-wide-angle sensor of 8 MP and a macro sensor of 2 MP. The selfie part is provided by a 32 MP sensor. We will probably have to wait a few more weeks before seeing them arrive in global markets, knowing that Oppo launched its Reno 7 has been available two months ago.
