According to Spotify Support, usernames cannot be changed once created. Usernames are only used to identify the user on Spotify.

You can, however, change the way your name appears on your profile and, ultimately, to your followers. This is known as the display name or nickname on Spotify.

Spotify says the display name will replace the username shown on the profile, app and playlists.

Here’s how you can change your display name on desktop:

  1. Click the down arrow on the top right corner.

  2. Select Profile.

  3. Click on your profile name and edit it to your liking.

  4. Don’t forget to click Save.

How to change the display name on mobile and tablet

  1. Tap on Home at the bottom of the screen.

  2. At the top right, tap on Settings icon.

  3. Select View profile.

  4. Under your current username/display name, there’s an option to Edit Profile – tap it.

  5. Edit your display name to your liking. Here, you can add or change your profile photo too.

  6. Hit Save to save your display name.
