For me also the James DSP app crash immediately on opening

No other audio mode installed

Similarly as the other users who reported the same problem, new phone, with A11: Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE, MIUI 12.5.8 stock, rooted by Magisk v24.1

(I spent two days trying to work V4A but no luck - V4A app was endlessly asking/repeating to install drivers and to reboot, and then again after reboot)

Same happening with me on OnePlus 9RT, Android 11. These are the magisk modules installed on my phone.

I tried also with AML 4.1 (and without AML) and I'm using new Magisk v24 with Zygisk, etc - seems you are using v23 since still using Riru (Riru is not compatible with Zygisk, hence normally not used for Magisk v24)

But anyway, it's not about Magisk v23+Riru or Magisk v24+Zygisk, etc, but there is something different in the kernel (?) causing the installation (mounting) of audio drivers to fail

I tried also with V4A (instead of jamesDSP) and I cannot make it working on my same new phone either.
And similarly report in V4A thread (like here) several other users (also with the new devices, originally released with A11)

Do U have safety net fix installed in magisk. Removing that made my James DSP not crash anymore.

Amazing. JamesDSP app no more crasshing when I disabled USNF 2.1 - I'll try to figure out which prop (?) causes a problem

It took me 20 minutes to figure out android 13 issue with James DSP. I selected the Huawei option on Install.

Nope, actually since then it works properly and I have no conflicts with props from USNF module

Ah, thanks. Do you still pass safety net? I need to be able to use Google Pay.

Yes, I pass SN with USNF 2.1

Hello, I'm using the OnePlus 9 Pro.
I'm having the same issue here as with V4A. When using a convolver there's a click or a pop at the beginning and end of a certain sound. It's most notable with sound files which end abruptly (with shorter decay - mostly notification sounds). Convolvers with a longer wave seem to have a greater effect. I'm using a shorter one, but still some clicks can be heard.

Is there a fix for this? I'd gladly disable global effect, but the issue is if I'm playing music and browsing facebook/instagram/whatever, the other source will have no sound, UNTIL music player is turned off and the second app restarted. Also it may cause an issue where notifications interrupt music, or don't play at all (this second example I didn't personally witness).

oh my ****ing god did not expect this to work but, if you're still struggling, and neither 3.4 is working either, first uninstall it if you haven't already, install 3.4 (new), then update it to 4.4 through Fox
really hope it works for you too since this is so frustrating, i'll never install updates ever again, thought i'll never get it working again, gotta learn my lesson, if it ain't broke don't fix it

Clean flashed and can't get this working using foxmm. Tried using 4.3 and this no longer works either, tried updating from 4.3 to 4.4 still have jamesdsp crash on launch. No other magisk modules installed... Have tried all combos with AML and without.
Previous to magisk itself asking for an update, it worked. Anyone else having issues?

Working for me on Android 12 and 12L on Pixel 6 Pro, April 2022 build.

Finally made it work after trying for a few days.

1. Do not install directly from foxMM. Download module first then install from storage in Magisk, reboot.

Has anyone with a One Plus 8 Pro got this to work with OOS12? I tried everything but it just won't work, DSP Manager just crashes instantly.

Hey guys, I have red almost every pages and still can't figure out how to install the mod without buttons! I have a recovery but it's a modified one that can only uninstall stuff (weird i know, considering it's twrp). I'm trying to install it on a car head unit. Even tried some volume apps but won't work... Please help, I'm desperate 😅

    If you look at the source code from Java part, you will find some are similar with Viper4Android, but this is not true.
    Viper4Android only open source it's interface, their core drivers source code have never been released.
    For convenient sake, I copy some interface code to accelerate my development.

    New JDSP is finally here everyone!
    Anyone give links for PRESETS and IRS.... I downloaded from an old post , but that's causing the app to crash!

    1) You can download Convolvers and DDC from
    https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=1322778262904011552

    Unzip and
    - copy IRS files from Kernel folder to Internal memory: /JamesDSP/Convolver
    - enable Convolver and select an Impulse Response filter

    - copy VDC files from DDC folder to Internal memory: /JamesDSP/DDC
    - enable ViPER-DDC and select a DDC file

    Btw, with IdealEQ.vds for DDC file, there is also a notable increase in Volume (tested for Speaker and Headset)

    2) For Equalizer, enable Hybrid equalizer (for Speaker, Headset and Bluetooth), select Custom, and from the top-right menu chose Save preset, name it like MyDefault

    Open by eg MiXPlorer, Internal memory:
    /JamesDSP/Presets/MyDefault/james.dsp.speaker.xml
    (repeat the same for Headset and Bluetooth XML files)

    edit as Text file, find the line starting with
    <string name="dsp.tone.eq.custom">

    and replace by 'Small speaker' parameters:
    <string name="dsp.tone.eq.custom">7.0;6.8;6.4;3.5;0.0;0.0;0.0;0.0;0.0;0.0;0.0;-3.5;-6.4;-3.3;-3.5;</string>

    Then in JamesDSP, top-right menu, chose Load preset and select your MyDefault

    JDSP has been updated to v1.7! See james' github for changelog, this installer uses the hq libs
    Can you define HQ and SQ in specific terms?
    Yes. @Zackptg5 Yes, for sure.
    HQ process audio using float 64 data type, although Android audio framework most likely provide only 16 bit data, this doesn't mean it is unnecessary, because float 64 guarantee less rounding error, thus less noise.
    SQ mode is pretty standard in DSP, float 32 satisfy most situations, this is most power saving, and fastest.
