How to Remix Snaps on Snapchat
Inspired by TikTok's Duets, Snapchat's Remix feature lets you blend your original video with someone else's. Here's how to use it.
Snapchat’s Remix feature allows you to create new Snaps that build on your friends’ Snaps or even your own old Snaps. You can record your own Snap alongside the original as it plays, much like TikTok’s Duets feature.
This article will show you how to remix a snap and get more creative with the way you engage with and create videos on Snapchat.
What Is a Snapchat Remix?
Remix allows you to record a video response to a friend's Snap while their clip plays directly next to it. When you record your Remix, you have the option of selecting different formats, such as whether your video appears next to, above, or in the corner of the original clip.
This feature is unmistakably similar to TikTok's Duets, which are typically reserved for actual song duets as well as funny collaborations or reactions. If you need an explainer, here's how to duet on TikTok and why you should.
Duets are essentially two-in-one videos that display the original video alongside the new one. TikTok, like Snapchat, allows users to change the layout of the Duet.
How to Remix Snaps on Snapchat
To make a Snapchat Remix:

- Open the Stories tab and select the Snap you want to Remix.
- Tap the three vertical dots icon in the top-right, then select Remix Snap.
- You can choose different frames from the layout menu on the left to spice things up.
- Edit your Snap as you normally would; you can add GIFs to spice things up, or choose from the selection of stickers, filters, and more.
- Finally, press the Send icon to share the Remix with your friend.
You can also make Remixes of your old Snaps. To do that, open your Memories tab, select a Snap and then follow steps 2-5 above.
You cannot save or share Snap Remixes that you make from your friends’ Snaps. However, you can save, share and send Remixes that you create using your own Memories.
