Nothing Phone 1 confirmed to be made in India – batteries from China

Nothing’s first Android smartphone Nothing Phone 1 will arrive on the global market on July 12, 2022. The company has confirmed that Nothing Phone 1 will be produced locally in India. The Nothing Phone 1 sold in India will be produced in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. This confirmation is from Nothing VP and General Manager, Manu Sharma.

Manu said the Nothing Phone 1 was the “real” start of the brand’s journey. For this reason, it makes sense for Nothing to manufacture the Nothing Phone 1 locally. Considering the importance of the Indian market to the brand, it is a good move. He further confirms that Nothing has been expanding its customer support in India to over 270 service centres in over 250 cities across the country. With this, the company is increasing consumer trust.

Nothing Phone 1 – a smartphone for the Indian market

However, a leakster, Mukul Sharma reveals that although the production of the smartphone will take place in Tamil Nadu, the batteries will come from China. The Nothing Phone1 will come with a 6.55-inch FHD+ OLED screen with a refresh rate of 90Hz. Under the hood, this device will use a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor. In the camera department, this mid-range smartphone will come with a 50-megapixel main camera. To keep its lights on will be a decent 4500 mAh battery that supports 45W fast charging via a USB Type-C charging port.

From the renders of this smartphone, it has a metal bezel (and the antenna strip on top) surrounding the device. The bezel appears to be of a flat-angle design, which means that the Nothing Phone 1 will be at least a mid-range and above device. Also, the image shows the camera model in the top left of the rear of this smartphone. This is consistent with renders of the device. From earlier exposures and a teaser image of this smartphone, it seems that the Nothing Phone 1 will come with a transparent rear case.
