Awesome as ever, desktop update from 15.3 (previously likewise done in place from 15.0 to 15.1 to 15.2), all worked without any glitch.

Probably thanks to bug reports from others.
My wifi stopped working due to merging openSUSE and SUSE code in 15.3. Thanks to testing the beta version I was able to report that some firmware was left out of the installer.

That's sure part of a good update story, having people test prereleases and report issues.

While I'm no longer doing that for the desktop stuff, I switched our whole work server setup (hosts, vms) to Tumbleweed over the course of the last 4 years, and run my little home servers mimicking part of that, on a regular first-to-update schedule, updating every 1-2 weeks.

That way, I'm catching this or that server package issue once every
2 or 3 months, usually with good quick reaction from the maintainers (via bugzilla). Often it's about stuff that won't happen at all for fresh installs, but does happen for continuously updated installs that were set up years ago. Probably super hard to test for, so people like us need to do our little part.

Legacy configurations are a big part of upgrade issues. You are really doing a great job and you are risking a lot with TW.
My point was that the merger of openSUSE and SLE was not free. You're very lucky if you don't get errors on the update.

Which is why, with gentoo, if I'm expecting any sort of trouble, I emerge @system first. Then if there is grief, I can at least boot a working system to recover the rest.

Cheers,

The same here: 2 personal machines updated from 15.3 to 15.4, no hitch. Next will be my work machines at the company. I did re-install 15.3 on some machines which had been continuously updated since 12.x, due to finally changing from BIOS to UEFI boot. So a nice update experience for the last years, I cannot complain a lot. Of course swapping the AV codecs and libraries from SuSE to Packman to get proprietary Video-playing going again is annoying because when I need to do it I always have forgotten how and what exactly to replace :-) my age is showing.
