Following an annoying account? Here is how to mute someone on Instagram
So, you follow a friend who is supremely annoying on Instagram. Don’t worry. You have options.
You might be thinking an unfollow is in order. Maybe you’re a little more savvy and are thinking of so-called "soft-blocking" them.
Careful, though. If you’re trying to preserve the real-world friendship, blocking or unfollowing of any kind can be interpreted as an act of hostility. What you could instead do is simply mute their account. There are a couple ways to do this on the Instagram mobile app.
And, of course, if you decide to end you’ve had a sufficient cringe detox, you can always unmute the person.
Here is how to mute and unmute them on Instagram.

In iOS 16, apps can trigger real-world actions hands-free
New functionality arriving in iOS 16 will enable apps to trigger real-world actions hands-free. Apple told developers today in a session hosted during the company's Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) that these hands-free actions could also be triggered even if the iOS user isn't actively using the app at the time. The update, which leverages Apple's Nearby Interaction framework, could lead to some interesting use cases where the iPhone becomes a way to interact with objects in the real world, if developers and accessory makers choose to adopt the technology.

U.S. bars investors from buying Russian debt, stocks on secondary market
The U.S. Treasury Department has banned U.S. money managers from buying any Russian debt or stocks in secondary markets, on top of its existing ban on new-issue purchases, in its latest sanctions on Moscow over its invasion of Ukraine. Despite Washington's sweeping sanctions in recent months, Americans were still allowed to trade hundreds of billions of dollars worth of assets already in circulation on secondary markets. The Treasury said in guidance published on its website on Monday that the ban extends to all Russian debt and that all Russian firms' shares are affected, not just those of ones specifically named in sanctions.

Dollar dips as hopes rise that inflation has peaked
The U.S. dollar index retreated from earlier highs and fell on Tuesday as Wall Street stocks erased initial declines amid growing hopes that inflation may have peaked, but the greenback managed to hit its highest level in 20 years against the Japanese yen. Longer-dated U.S. Treasury yields, which hit a 3-1/2 week high overnight on concerns the Federal Reserve will continue on its aggressive rate hike path as it seeks to combat inflation, also eased as a tapering off of inflation could slow the central bank's hiking plans. "The market is pricing in that the Fed is going to do almost all of what it says it is going to do, but that being said you are starting to get this idea that maybe inflation has reached its peak and might be starting to roll over," said Thomas Martin, senior portfolio manager at Globalt Investments in Atlanta, Georgia.
