The Business Intelligence Group announced on June 7 that Surface Monitoring by Detectify has won the 2022 Fortress Cyber Security Award in the Application Security category. The industry award recognizes the world’s leading companies and products that are working to protect data and electronic assets from the growing threat of malicious attackers.

Surface Monitoring is a leading external attack surface management (EASM) product aimed at identifying, assessing, and prioritizing web vulnerabilities. This new category of cybersecurity products provides a layer of protection that was previously unavailable to organizations due to a lack of automation and tools. Surface Monitoring was conceived based on the success of a previous security product from Detectify that had been in the market since 2015.

“Surface Monitoring is transforming the dynamic between security and development teams,” said Johanna Ydergård, Vice President of Product at Detectify. “Security teams now have the ability to continuously monitor their entire, constantly evolving attack surface and detect vulnerabilities and misconfigurations which is especially important as attack vectors and surfaces are changing on a daily basis. Meanwhile, development teams are able to meet the demands of the CI/CD pipeline while also building more secure applications.”

Surface Monitoring uses continuous payload-based scans, across various systems and technologies allowing security teams to partner with product teams to discern what remediations are crucial to protect the company’s attack surface. Detectify collaborates with a Crowdsource community of elite ethical hackers to identify new vulnerabilities and methods to test for them.

“In the last two years, our Crowdsource community has discovered more than 300 0-day vulnerabilities,” said Detectify CEO and co-founder, Rickard Carlsson. “Previously undocumented security vulnerabilities can be scanned on customers’ sites in as little as 15 minutes from the initial proof of concept. This puts customers a step ahead of malicious attackers – a place they rarely find themselves in today’s evolving threat landscape.”

“We are so proud to name Surface Monitoring by Detectify as a winner in the 2021 Fortress Cyber Security Awards program,” said Maria Jimenez, Chief Nominations Officer, Business Intelligence Group. “As our society continues to evolve and become more reliant on networks and data, companies like Detectify are critical at providing the protection and trust consumers demand.”
