The new Air announcement:
  1. Looked chonky.
  2. Is expensive.
  3. Brought a notch which I haven't seen a single person prefer.
  4. Lacked the anticipated 15" model.
How many of you were not impressed with the new Air?

How many of you would have greatly preferred if Apple just made exactly what was rumored last year, even if it may be a bit less powerful?

Just curious if anyone else had their hopes shattered, and felt disappointment with the WWDC presentation.

It reminded me of the iPad Mini 6

It was basically a form factor change with a slight, and expected after a couple years, bump to the internals

A very iterative change.
Not amazing, but good I suppose -- but with some subjective tradeoffs as always

(for instance, I really really loved the wedge and am sad to see that go)
I just wish Apple had offered the MBA in 15" or higher atleast. Slight changes. I do love the colors tho. Also, happy the white bezels did not make the cut

Did you really expect Apple to supply a 15" MBA? That was a long shot. I was hoping they would return to the 12" models that were ultra compact. But then that might impact iPad sales.

I like it well enough, the new design looks smart, the M2 chip provides plenty enough performance for this class of machine, expanding the screen to make use of all available space is a good choice, the pricing was fully expected. My main reservation would be how the speakers sound without actual speaker outlets, Apple's been so good on this it would be a shame if they mucked it up to save $0.0001 machining costs.

The 15.2" is expected for late next year from that flurry of information we got earlier in the year.

My wife is daily using an 11" Mid 2012 MBA with 64GB for her private practice, and she loves it.

While it still runs circles around her work (other job) provided new Windows laptop in terms of performance and battery life, I was thinking of getting her a new MBA as soon as one came out with MagSafe again.

Now that new MBA is finally out, I am hesitant, because she was thinking of leaving her private practice, not abruptly, but just not pursuing any new clients as others are discharged.

So, not sure if I want to spend over $1k on a device that she may not need in a year or two.

Yeah, that would have not been good.

Quite the opposite - I'm very pleased.

1) It may look "chonky" but its all-around thickness is 0.19" thinner than the maximum thickness of the M1 Air, and it's 0.1 lb lighter.

2) Yes, it's $100-200 more than I was hoping to pay. Over the course of 5+ years of ownership, that's negligible.

3) The notch is really a non-issue for me. The display itself is physically larger, and now the menu bar has a dedicated space with 64 extra pixels on the vertical.

4) You may have anticipated a 15" model, but I never saw any credible predictions that we'd see one.

The M2 MBA has the two features I was most hoping for - MagSafe and a better webcam - and thus I will be buying one as soon as I can.
