Unfortunately, you can't purchase ebooks directly from the Amazon Kindle app on mobile devices as it doesn't support in-app purchases anymore, but there is a workaround to this.

Follow the steps below to buy and download Kindle ebooks on your iPhone or iPad.

1. First, create an Amazon account if you haven't already. Go to the Hello, Sign In tab at the top, select Start Here, and enter your details to sign up.
2. Ensure you've got the Kindle app downloaded on your iPhone or iPad. Open the app and sign in with your Amazon account.
3. In the Safari browser on your iPhone or iPad, go to the Kindle Store. Do not tap any prompts to open the Amazon app and stay in the browser. Sign in with your Amazon account via the Sign In tab at the top.
4. In the search bar at the top, type in the name of the book you want. To narrow down your search, type the author's name as well.
5. From the search results, tap on the book you want. If it didn't show up, it's probably not available on Amazon.
6. On the buying page, select the Kindle option.
7. Scroll down a bit until you see Deliver to, open the dropdown, and select your device. If your device isn't listed, pick "Your Kindle Library".
8. Hit Buy now with 1-Click. Enter your Amazon payment details if you haven't already saved them on your Amazon account. You'll be directed to a page that will notify you that your purchase was successful and that the book has been added to your Kindle library.
9. Open the Kindle app once again. Ensure you've got Library selected at the bottom. And there it is, your new book! Just tap on it to start reading. You'll be able to read all your purchased books offline.
