UI/UX: Fresh Design Books 2022
A couple of brand new, fresh UI/UX books that I would HIGHLY recommend for any UI/UX designer in 2022.
Quick note: I am not at all affiliated with the author of these resources, I just really appreciate his work, and I think that it can really help you grow as a designer.
Overview
As UI/UXers, we are constantly barraged by new information on a near daily basis, and this can make it exceptionally difficult to separate signal from noise.
Today, I want to share with you a couple of books that I’ve found after Refactoring UI, that I would HIGHLY recommend for any UI/UX designer in 2022.
The Books
If you’ve already read Refactoring UI, these next few titles should, in my opinion be the very next ones on your list. Not only does Michal do a phenomenal job at covering a huge amount of ground, but does so in a way that is accessible, clear, and easy to process.
Book #1: No Bullshit Guide to UX
No Bullshit Guide to UX (eBook) (ENG)
✅ Most important UX concepts presented in simple, easy to understand language✅ Based on my 23 years of experience and…
If there was ever a book that synthesized the thoroughness of A Project Guide to UX, with the simplicity of UX Team of One, this book easily takes the cake.
I don’t think I have ever read a more clear, thorough, and honest perspective on UX process and activities that really speaks to what you’re actually going to do/use in the real world, versus what you may be taught in traditional UI/UX coursework.
Michal pulls no punches and spares no expense in getting right to the heart of the issues that modern UX designers encounter on a regular basis, deconstructing them, and helping you get a clearer picture on how to solve them.
I used to recommend a Project Guide to UX as initiatory/reference material for UXers, I am now recommending a No Bullshit Guide to UX instead.
Book #2: Designing User Interfaces
Designing User Interfaces
Great book for all UI designers out there - @Anette71914469 My digital bookshelf is now complete! - @tirrapy…
Now I thought for sure that Refactoring UI was the absolute best in the business, name of the game, book to recommend for UI design, and that we really wouldn’t see anything much better than that.
Serious: if you’re a UI designer, this book is a game-changer.
Quite possibly one of the single best books I have ever read on the subject of UI design, and why I seriously think you…
→ I was so wrong it’s not even funny, and I couldn’t be happier.
Designing User Interfaces is a tour-de-force in designing clean, modern UI’s that does its best to not leave a single stone unturned.
Irrespective of toolset, Designing UI is by far and away THE book that I now recommend for modern UI designers, and at over 400 pages it dwarfs Refactoring UI in terms of both content and clarity.

Don’t get me wrong, Refactoring UI is still very good, but pound for pound Designing UI is the absolute clear winner in its arena, and now holds the top spot in my recommended reading list for UI designers.
