Managing group nodes using “Display As” control “GRID” in SAP Profitability and Performance Management Cloud

Hi Everyone,

If you’re wondering how to organize or rearrange the functions inside the group nodes in your SAP Profitability and Performance Management Cloud, this blog post will come handy.

Many SAP Profitability and Performance Management Cloud environments have a number of functions, ranging from twenty (20) to hundreds (100+) depending on the scenario. Sample Content Environments and Performance Testing Environments are two examples of these environments. So, functions like Description and Condition are used to organize the functions within the Calculation Unit, although this may not be enough for the following reasons:

  1. they are arranged vertically
  2. if a connection is made in each of the functions, the functions are arranged horizontally.

With this arrangement, zooming the screen in/out is used to make the functions apparent. As a result, scrolling up and down is required to check all the features because they do not fit on the screen.

In order to supplement this current behavior, the “Display As” control “GRID” was introduced; this feature will now organize the functions within the Calculation Unit, Description functions, Condition functions, Process Template, and Activity Templates Activity Node to GRID to make it more visible and eliminate the need to scroll just to view all the functions within the group node. Aside from that, the modeler may rearrange the functions by designating where they should be located or change the sequence of the functions.

Let’s now try this new feature to see how it works.

  • Arranging the function inside the group node to Grid
    • Choose the group node (Calculation Unit, Description Functions, Condition Functions, Process Template, or Activity Templates Activity Node) where the modeler wants to rearrange the functions.
    • Expand the Properties Panel
    • Click the ‘Display As’ in General
    • Select ‘GRID’

  • Rearranging the functions inside the group node
    • Choose the group node (Calculation Unit, Description Functions, Condition Functions, Process Template, or Activity Templates Activity Node) where the modeler wants to rearrange the functions.
    • Select the function then drag and drop to where the function should be placed (make sure that the function to be move is at the middle of the two function and the group node is highlighted)

Note: The new ordering or sequence will be saved, but the Display As control ‘GRID’ will not be. As a result, the functionalities will be arranged vertically and horizontally the next time modeler access the environment or just by refreshing the modeling environment. To organize the functions in a grid, the modeler must change the group node to ‘Display As’ control ‘GRID’.

Conclusion

This blog post demonstrates how to organize the functions within the group node, specifically for the Calculation Unit, Description functions, Condition functions, Process Template, and Activity Templates Activity Node using the ‘Display As’ control ‘GRID’.

Hope this information is useful for you!

I would greatly appreciate if you could share your feedbacks and thoughts in the comments.
