Less than 20 percent of the world’s PCs run Windows 11

Microsoft launched Windows 11 with much fanfare, and while the rollout of the operating system is yet to be completed, the company is praising its new product on every single occasion.

But according to AdDuplex, there may not be much to brag about.

The adoption of Windows 11 is barely improving these days, as the operating system is still running on less than 20 percent of the Windows PCs out there.

Windows 10 November 2021 Update, also known as 21H2, is currently the top choice with no less than 35 percent, while Windows 10 May 2021 Update, referred to as 21H1, is the runner-up with 26.4 percent.

Windows 11 is far behind with just 19.7 percent.

Windows 11 rollout is currently in the last phase

The share of Windows 11 will probably continue to improve in the coming months, especially as Microsoft is releasing the operating system for more devices.

According to the company itself, the rollout of Windows 11, which was projected to be finalized by the summer, has entered the last stages, and it is actually ahead of the schedule.

“The upgrade offer to Windows 11 is entering its final phase of availability and is designated for broad deployment for eligible devices*. Since the launch of Windows 11 in October, we have seen strong demand and preference for Windows 11 with people upgrading their eligible PCs at twice the rate we saw for Windows 10. Based on this trend, we are advancing the pace of the rollout faster than we originally announced and entering the final phase of availability for Windows 11 ahead of our initial plan of mid-2022,” Microsoft said.

In other words, Windows 11 should reach general availability sooner rather than later, with Microsoft expected to release an announcement in this regard any day now.
