Improved access key support in Task Manager
Microsoft has introduced a series of new shortcuts for the task manager in the latest Windows 11 preview build, therefore making this tool easier to use without even touching the mouse.
Windows 11 build 22598 comes with improved access key support in task manager.
For example, you can run a new task by pressing Alt + N, while Alt + E allows users to end the task instantly. Microsoft has also added the Alt + V shortcut to access the efficiency mode. If you select a process and press the Delete key, task manager automatically ends the process.
On the other hand, if you press Alt with task manager in focus, you should be able to see the letters displayed next to the button to make it more conveniently to use the shortcuts.
Microsoft says that task manager also supports Ctrl + Tab and Ctrl + Shift + Tab to cycle through the pages displayed within the app.
More task manager improvements
At the same time, Microsoft has also included several other bug fixes and performance optimizations in the most recent Windows 11 preview build.
“Mitigated an issue causing the Performance page CPU graph to be colored as if Show Kernel Times was enabled even though it wasn’t. Did some work to further improve Task Manager reliability. Fixed an issue where the memory composition graph was blank instead of filed in with the appropriate color,” Microsoft says.
“Mitigated an issue leading to the GPU graph on the performance tab not being displayed in some cases. The icons in the status column of the Processes page are no longer touching the side of the column. Fixed an issue where “Efficiency mode” was missing status column of the Users page.”
The latest preview build of Windows 11 is available for users in the Dev and Beta channels.
