Twitter 董事会宣布采取毒丸计划阻止 Elon Musk 的敌意收购。Elon Musk 是 Twitter 最大个人股东，持有 9.2% 股份，他最初宣布加入董事会推动多项改革，但之后放弃加入董事会，宣布以每股 54.20 美元约 430 亿美元整体收购 Twitter。虽然 Musk 是世界首富但手上并没有这么多现金，而是需要通过其它方法筹集。而 Twitter 董事会所采取的毒丸计划是给现有股东时间以折扣价购买额外股份，稀释 Musk 的股权。Twitter 在一份声明中表示董事会一致通过一项有期限的股东权利计划。
