科学家声称发掘出一个小行星撞击地球时留下的恐龙化石。6600 万年前的事件结束了恐龙统治地球的时代，哺乳动物开始崛起。但至今没有发现多少灭绝事件前几千年的恐龙化石，更不用说来说灾难本身的标本，如果确认这将是一次非常重要的发现。考古学家是在距离小行星撞击地点 3000 公里远的北达科他州 Tanis 遗址挖掘出保存良好的恐龙腿化石。除了腿之外，还发现了撞击碎片击中的鱼。对于恐龙是否真的死于小行星撞击有科学家对此持怀疑态度。
