IC Insights 的数据显示，2021 年中国占了全球半导体市场份额的 4%。美国占据了一半以上的份额，分析师认为在可预见的未来美国公司会继续占据主导地位。尽管目前业界呼吁要有更多半导体需求由本国企业满足，但据专业机构估计，在 2021 年只有 5.9% 的芯片由国内公司生产。虽然各方在半导体上投资了数十亿美元，但这一投资尚未获得回报。
