A beautiful ode to daydreaming. Thanks Derek! Nothing good ever got done without daydreaming first, right? :)

As for ambition, it's easier to day dream or dream or plan when I feel safer in my self-esteem, partly because I have more than one thing I have become good at, so I don't have to worry about any one blow to my self-esteem. And partly because I am more compassionate with myself and letting go of who I think I should be. I'll never be that cool leftist rebel on the T-shirt, (what's his cause again?) and besides: I feel dumb in a beret.

Most of the time, we get the solution of our problem by daydreaming...
because we look at inside of us at the most practical level and conditional based solution.
Book/video teaches us based on the "common based condition", not "dependent based condition".
By daydreaming we question everything... our past believes as true, or as wrong... or conventional believes as true, or as wrong.
We confess our reality by daydreaming it.
We tend to believe that Google knows everything.
We always search at the outside answer... never ending search.
When it is unfits, we search again, and again.
But NO!, Google doesn't know everything.
I assure you one thing, at the critical level in my past if I trust Google for the answer, I'd definitely been broke. - Aleksi (2019-10-14) #
Why it has to be deliberate? For me it just happens.
When I come to my quiet office and sit on a chair with coffee on my hand, it just happens. My brain starts to fly. And the time flies too. But I have to stop it at some point and start working. That's the only deliberate part. - Prasanna (2019-10-14) #
That part about not watching videos? How did you know not to edit that out? How did it survive your tight editing grip?
Is it because you knew that's the biggest creativity/time killer in this era of fast internet and powerful blackhole called Youtube?
The very last sentences of your posts are just too perfect. Have been noticing them now for a while and developed the anticipation while reading new posts. Never failed to be impressed so far. - Rakesh (2019-10-14) #
It's a good read, I am curious to know how much time you spend daydreaming (at least some estimated hours).
I too do this, not only day but morning, evening, night and whenever I want to detach myself from reality and enjoy but it's for a very small time period approx 15 minutes max and after that back to what I was engaged before as it help me to increase my focus and concentration.
But we also have an old saying that "too much day dreaming is dangerous to oneself" - Patrick (2019-10-14) #
I go on walks in the forest and let my mind wander. I'll try the questions.

This is my favorite one out of these new once day posts. I used to daydream all the time, but I have tried to suppress it for years now.

I am so happy to see this post! I adore daydreaming and decline to see it as a waste of time -- instead, I see it as my best time. In that state of mind, my most amusing inventions often "show up" for the first time. I wish more folks could allow themselves the joy and the freedom.

Hi Derek,
Now thinking about it, makes me realize that I daydreamed since I was a kid. Daydreaming comes to me like something normal and natural. I’m not sure I can say it’s one of my favorite pastimes but, it’s definitely one of the things that contribute to my happiness in life. As I listen to my favorite music, it automatically triggers me to daydream. That’s why I deliberately don’t listen to my favorite music all the time, otherwise I’ll be doing nothing but to daydream.
Thanks for sharing. - Sean Crawford (2020-08-25) #
When it comes to videos, let's not be negative and twisted up. The Greeks said "Moderation in all things."
I would watch any video by William Shakespeare. Back when television was first broadcasting, live, the name of the playwright, "teleplay by" was posted as prominently as when a stage play is performed.
The Greeks said, "Nothing in excess" Once TV videos were broadcasting "too much," people didn't enjoy them as much, and the Shakespeares among us went back to movies and the legitimate theatre.
Warning: Moving pictures are poor at representing English literature, and especially poor at representing written science fiction.
There: Now I've given you a "start" for talking over a beverage... in a curious, courteous, non-twisted manner. - Joe (2020-10-12) #

I can not believe there is a person that will admit they Daydream. I've been doing this for years. hahahahahahahaha Now, when I need to chill I sit on by sofa out the window at the trees and my flowers. My mind needs to rest from all the types of work I've done.
Okay, for the day I do not know which article of yours I have read is the best. But I am glad I can daydream about the ones I will remember. Thank you Derek. hahahahaha Of course, I do not mean remember in a bad way. But something I see, hear, or watch will click one of your articles back into my mind.
