We'll help you troubleshoot the annoying problem.

What's the best way to get your projector to fit the screen? Sometimes, it's not as easy as simply hitting the screen fit button.

Here are a few common projector problems and how to troubleshoot them.

1. Overscan Cropping

A smart home projector.

Some projectors are designed to crop the image to fit a screen of a predetermined size. Overriding this setting should solve the problem, if applicable.

2. Image Position

The screen position within the projected image is simply the width of each margin at either side and along the top and the bottom. You might be able to prevent the edges from being cut off by adjusting the image's positioning accordingly.

3. Resolution or Aspect Ratio

A digital projector.

To avoid any potential drama, it's best to assign your computer screen's resolution and aspect ratio according to what the projector is designed to deliver natively.

4. Dual Display

Those projecting from a computer or laptop may have their configuration set to a dual display, causing the projector to only use part of the screen. To fix this, all that you have to do is adjust your computer's display settings to something more accommodating.

5. There’s Something in the Way

Video projectors are shafts of light aimed at a wall or a screen. If there's something cutting the picture off physically, the roadblock usually won't be difficult to remove.

6. You Just Need to Reset the Device

A digital video projector.

Yes, this one may be something of a cop-out, but we'll never deny the magic of a keenly-timed reset. This may sometimes come in the form of a simple "resize" command, or something similar.

If the projector gives you any way of doing this from within the OS, it's always worth a shot. You might be able to save yourself hours of unnecessary tinkering.

How to Fix a Projector Screen That Doesn't Fit

All video projectors are different, but, with any luck, the six scenarios outlined here should help you clear the air and adjust your movie projector to perfection.

Whether you use yours to game, to stream, or even just for decoration, finding a configuration that works for you usually doesn't take a lot.
