Windows 11 is a huge success /s

It is so successful that I will probably be upgrading my Win10 in 2024! (I agree with your /s comment)

lol, to be expected, such a disaster, i bet the management team at microsoft desktop division will get a fat bonus, nothing will change

what a waste of money and resources, they could have properly reboot windows, and they miserably failed

Personally I think Windows 11 is better than 10.

How can you possibly claim that?

W11 is yet to implement all of the features that W10 users enjoy. W11 is clearly unfinished, a work in progress as MS adds back features but to claim W11 right now is preferable to W10 is quite ridiculous.

You can say however that you like W11 as it shows promise and in time will be superior to W10 however that time isn't now.

The same way I can? People having preferences you don't must be a concept that eludes you.

This is all subjective and depends on people their needs and stubbornness to adapt and leave some old paradigms behind.

I always despised live tiles and I never really saw the benefit of the start menu when you can pin all your most programs to the start bar and hit WINKEY + 3 letters + enter to open every app you need in 1 second.

I never used drag and drop on the taskbar and always hated big long ungrouped labels in the taskbar from the Vista era.

I wasn't a fan of the new explorer right click menu's but after adding NanaZip from the store I realised in 99.99 percent of the occasions the new menu has everything I need.

I am not saying Windows 11 can't be improved in many areas but my workflow remained mostly the same compared to Windows 10. So my usage must be in the every telemetry range of most users since all my features where there.

And no, I am not some casual latte youngster who only likes new shiny things. I am a 39 year old software developer, gamer and PC/tech enthousiast who isn't afraid of changing up some things now and again. I know all versions of Windows inside out and Windows 11 is not the disaster some claim it to be

Still amused to see 32 bit Windows hanging in there. Barely.

So the uptake is slower than in the past, not a surprise and something they expected with the more strict hardware requirements. That number will go up as always but the steam numbers aren't 100% in the end.

I've used steam for years and have never once taken their survey. It's just a glimpse into a subset of their user base.

The Steam numbers and the Ad Duplex numbers are both unreliable. They're good fodder for tech site articles as they usually end up with plenty of engagement but little more.

so gamers have old and dated hardwares, i though they were gamers and needed recent HW to keep up

they might have lied to me.. people prefer to play at 20 FPS instead of minimum 60/120 FPS 🤣

i wonder why Apple manage to have a higher/faster upgrade rate, it must be because their new OS is so bad that nobody wants it, oh wait..

Lets not mix in a bunch of different things here. If you want to hold the above steam survey numbers as gospel then the majority of gamers are 1080p gamers with mid to low end cards. Yet we know that's not fully the case, so the steam numbers aren't even close to giving you the whole picture.

And were do you get the apple upgrade rate from anyways? Just for laughs I did a quick search and statcounter has MacOS 10.15 (Catalina) at 83% of the install base and it's a 2 year old version. Big Sur (v11) and Monterey (v12) don't even show up in their numbers, they're clumped together under "Other". So no, I don't see any sort of "higher/faster" upgrade rate at all.

we were talking about steam, now you onto something else? c'mon, be serious

https://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey

there, macos data, 50% have is on macOS 12+, wich needs a device from at least 2015, similar for win11 requirement

lot of people still use older macs because they are reliable, so they can't all upgrade

wich says a lot ;), 50% of mac devices are already newer than 2015, according to steam stats

and btw, in your link you can read:

> Apple are incorrectly reporting Big Sur 11 as Catalin 10.15. You can read more about it here.
> We can't correctly show usage for Big Sur 11 or Catalina 10.15 until Apple fixes this.

their reports are stopped as a result

If baffles me that people still have this Neanderthal attitude of my OS is better than your OS. Each has its own merits. I use Mac OS for some things it does well and I use Windows for other things it does well and Linux for other circumstances. Broaden your horizons. Each has its flaws, as any OS will. Its really trite, unless you’re 12, which may well be the case.

I tried Windows 11 and it does not really work for me. Really difficult for every days tasks, not a user friendly OS. After 6 months of running Windows 11 I switched back to Windows 10. Performance wise Windows 11 offers nothing, and feature wise really nothing. There is Auto HDR which actually does not work right.

I'm liking Windows 11. Only issue though is every now and then, when I start up my PC, I get a TPM error where I have to continue using the config or reset it. Happens right around the Post screen. I see there's a BIOS update but my mobo has an issue installing it. Still working on getting it installed so maybe this will go away. Drives me insane that this happens though.
