Oppo’s Fast Charges System Charges Your Phone Fully in Just 10 Minutes

Today’s smartphones already offer insane charging speeds, but this doesn’t necessarily mean that companies out there are willing to stop investing in fast charging technology.

Not at all, and Oppo is just the living proof in this regard.

The company attended this year’s MWC with an announcement that we all know was coming sooner or later. Oppo has created a 240W charging system that’s capable of charging a phone fully in under 10 minutes.

This is impressive, to say the least, but the firm hasn’t provided too many details on its new tech at this point. So at first glance, it looks like it’s not yet ready to reach production phones, though I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t take too long before Oppo installs it on a mobile device selling to customers across the world.

The new charging specs

The numbers shared by Oppo are impressive, to say the least.

According to the company, the so-called 240W SuperVOOC Flash Charge is capable of charging a 4,500 mAh battery in just 9 minutes from 0 to 100 percent. What’s more, the battery can go from 0 to 50 percent in three and a half minutes, with the rest of the process to be completed in less than 6 minutes.

There are many things that Oppo needs to further elaborate on, especially as such insane charging speeds could cause concerns of faster battery degradation and other issues such as overheating.

However, given Oppo has already released a public demo of its new tech, there’s a chance the development is currently in an advanced phase and the company managed to deal with all these common problems that a fast charging system would come with.

As said, there’s no ETA as to when Oppo wants to bring its fast charging system to the world, but I’m guessing an announcement on this front would be made later this year.
