Akamai 併購 Linode
目前在 Hacker News 首頁第一名，Akamai 併購 Linode：「Akamai To Acquire Linode to Provide Businesses with a Developer-friendly and Massively-distributed Platform to Build, Run and Secure Applications」，Linode 的新聞稿則是在「Linode and Akamai」，Hacker News 上的討論在「Akamai to Acquire Linode (akamai.com)」這邊。
併購金額與預期的時間表：
Under terms of the agreement, Akamai has agreed to acquire all of the outstanding equity of Linode Limited Liability Company for approximately $900 million, after customary purchase price adjustments. As a result of structuring the transaction as an asset purchase, Akamai expects to achieve cash income tax savings over the next 15 years that have an estimated net present value of approximately $120 million. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2022 and is subject to customary closing conditions.

Linode 推出免費試用方案...
Linode 一直是 Hacker News 的寵兒，其中有幾項與其他的 VPS 比起來相當突出： 相當直覺而且簡單易懂的管理界面，另外還有 DNS 代管服務。 超值的 CPU 用量，比起 AWS EC2 或是其他 VPS 的限制都寬不少。 另外價錢合理以及全球各地區都有機房也是很重要的特色。 不過國外有人寫了一篇關於 DigitalOcean 與 Linode 的比較文章後，Linode 就被打入冷宮了 XDDD 雖然 DigitalOcean 只有兩個點 (一個在美東，另外一個在歐洲)，而且管理界面還有點陽春，但提供的品質與價錢遠遠超越 Linode... (請參考「DigitalOcean 與 Linode 的比較...」以及「測試 DigitalOcean 荷蘭阿姆斯特丹的機器...」這兩篇文章) 過了兩個禮拜後 Linode 總算反擊了：「Create a free account and Trial Linodes」，不過力道看起來很差啊，依照原文的說明是讓你試用 Linode 512 這個規格的機器幾個小時... XD…

DigitalOcean 與 Linode 的比較...
DigitalOcean 因為「Linode vs DigitalOcean, performance benchmarks」這篇上了 Hacker News 熱門文章列表，把本來試用帳號的名額都用完了，現在要測試要自己花錢... XD 原文是測效能 (I/O 速度與 CPU 速度)，我是看其他的部分： 價錢便宜又提供 SSD (看完提供的內容與品質後，居然還可以打趴 Linode，這真是低到不可思議 XD)，控制介面又是自己開發的，難怪會讓 Hacker News 的人熱起來... 計費是 by hour，然後每個月的上限就是表列出來的金額，比起 Linode 是以天計算友善不少... 目前機房的點有點少，只有美東 (New York) 與荷蘭 (Amsterdam)，我開美東的點測試，從台灣過去大約要 200ms，從 Linode 東京過去是 170ms。 可以常見的 Linux 套件 (Debian、Ubuntu、Fedora、ArchLinux、...)，32bits 或是 64bits 都有提供，我是裝 Debian 6.0 64bits 版本，然後直接用 apt 換成…
