Microsoft says the adoption of Windows is on the rise

Microsoft has completely transformed its desktop operating system with the launch of Windows 10 and Windows 11, and needless to say, the switch to a modern approach wasn’t necessarily everybody’s cup of tea.

Many threatened with a switch to Linux, others decided to stick with older versions of Windows. But at the end of the day, the world of Windows just keeps growing and growing, and now Microsoft says its operating system is currently running on no less than 1.4 million devices out there.

The company says PCs are once again a key part of everybody’s life, especially as the work from home concept has become essential in the last couple of years.

“Windows now powers over 1.4 billion monthly active devices with overall time spent on Windows up 10% over pre pandemic levels. This quarter, Windows took share as through our customer insights research, we saw nearly 50% growth in people who plan to use their PC for creativity, gaming or for work. We continue to see people across organizations, schools and homes recognize the benefits of a PC for every person,” the company says.

Big bet on Windows 11

Microsoft has also reiterated its investments in Windows 11, the new operating system whose adoption is already going strong, according to Microsoft.

“Since the launch of Windows 11 in October, we have seen strong demand and preference for Windows 11 with people accepting the upgrade offer to Windows 11 at twice the rate we saw for Windows 10,” the Redmond-based software giant said.

The rollout of Windows 11 continues as we speak, but according to Microsoft’s very own schedule, it’s supposed to come to an end by mid-2022. This means all eligible devices should be provided with the update to Windows 11 in the next few months, as the rollout has entered the final stages.
