Data shows version 21H2 almost tripled its market share

Windows 11 is now rolling out to users out there, but the new operating system won’t be available for all devices currently running Windows 10.

This is because Microsoft has updated the system requirements, enforcing things like TPM 2.0 and therefore making it impossible for some computers to run Windows 11.

All these devices have no other option than to stick with Windows 10, the operating system that will continue to be supported until October 25.

This is why the adoption of Windows 10 version 21H2, the most recent stable release of this operating system, has almost tripled lately, according to data from AdDuplex. This is obviously because most devices ended up being updated to the latest Windows 10 version, as they aren’t allowed to install Windows 11.

The Windows 10 support

Windows 10 will continue to receive updates and security patches normally until October 2025, with Microsoft explaining that its commitment to improving this operating system hasn’t changed.

“For customers who are using a PC that won’t upgrade, and who aren’t ready to transition to a new device, Windows 10 is the right choice. We will support Windows 10 through October 14, 2025 and we recently announced that the next feature update to Windows 10 is coming later this year. Whatever you decide, we are committed to supporting you and offering choice in your computing journey,” Microsoft said last year when it announced Windows 11.

At this point, the rollout of Windows 11 is making good progress, and Microsoft says it expects all eligible devices to receive the new operating system by the summer. Windows 10 will receive a feature update later this year, but for now, few specifics are available on this front, so it’s hard to anticipate what it’ll bring new to users out there.
