A New Year Spells New Opportunities for Local Austin Business

Year of the Tiger Puzzle Kickstarter Campaign
Where’d The Wild Things Go’s Year of the Tiger Limited Edition Puzzle

Curious why your newsfeeds are suddenly full of tiger illustrations, images, and everything in between? 2022 marks not only another year into this pandemic but also a new start with it being year of the tiger. According to the Chinese zodiac, the tiger symbolizes vitality and strength, something I am sure we could all use a little bit more of this year.

January is also a time of new beginnings for many startups and campaigns as Kickstarter sets off another year of it’s Make 100 initiatives.

A little backstory
Every January, Kickstarter invites startups and small businesses to launch new products and ideas on a small scale through their Make 100 campaigns. As long as a project is published in between January 1st and 31st and has a limited run of 100, it fits the bill. This makes it perfect for launching that product that might have been just out of reach before, testing a new initiative on a smaller scale, or highlighting a new creator in the market.

Why is this important?
As a small business in Austin, Texas this means a chance at expanding into new markets and products that were previously out of reach. That is why I am so excited to announce Where’d The Wild Things Go’s campaign celebrating year of the tiger in puzzle form.

First off let me introduce myself.
Hi, that’s me! Emily Tolipova. I created Where’d The Wild Things Go as a passion project a few years ago and when the pandemic hit, I turned it into something completely new altogether, a full scale business. WTWTG is all about highlighting endangered species and conservation with each piece of merchandise featuring an endangered animal in vibrant colors paired with stunning typography. I also love to throw in a few puns every once and awhile. It is my hope that by highlighting these species I can get more people asking “where did the wild things go?” and “how can I make a difference?”.

Behind the scenes: illustration preparation

Year of the Tiger Kickstarter Puzzle
Kickstarter’s Make 100 initiative was the perfect opportunity to expand into a new venture, puzzles. But with a twist. I illustrated the original piece each puzzle will be based on in watercolor. This will be a way to bring the drawing to life in a whole new and exciting way to entertain families, kids, and individuals of all ages. Once fully funded each puzzle will include an informational card with fun facts and resources about different endangered tiger species across the globe today.
