Up from the standard 500 MB offered to all users

The adoption of ProtonMail has increased in the last few years for obvious reasons, but on the other hand, not everybody is a big fan of the storage limitations the service comes with.

The 500 MB offered by default means users always need to keep an eye on their storage, and it goes without saying the parent company too knows this is quite a drawback.

The good news is that ProtonMail is now giving its users the opportunity to upgrade their maximum storage from the typical 500 MB to 1 GB, all without paying a single cent.

The only thing they need to do is to just complete a series of tasks, with the 1 GB upgrade to then be enabled all automatically.

For example, users with free accounts need to import their emails and contacts, send a message, set up a recovery method, and install the mobile ProtonMail app on their devices (and configure their accounts on Android and iPhone).

Limited-time offer

Once these steps are completed, ProtonMail should be automatically upgraded to 1 GB.

“We’ll upgrade your storage to 1 GB for free after you’ve completed all actions. With double the storage of what our Free plan offers, you’ll be able to store even more messages and attachments in your inbox. If you already have a free ProtonMail account, you can start completing actions over the next few days,” the company announced earlier this week.

“Log in to your ProtonMail account at mail.protonmail.com and click on the gift icon located at the bottom left. After you complete an action, a checkmark will appear next to it. When you’ve completed all the actions, you’ll receive an email confirming your increased storage space. It’s that simple!”

This is a limited-time offer, so you need to complete all the tasks mentioned above to get the storage upgrade by the end of the month.
