2022 Events We Are Excited For!

Since 2021 was an atypical year, to say the least, surely everyone is very hopeful about what 2022 will bring to us.

While most of our meetings continued to be online, some tech events this year were again presential, bringing communities together in person again.

Here, hoping this will continue to happen,  and that we will get to see our industry colleagues again, on and offline, we are listing the tech events we are excited about in the year to come.

Cloud Native Saar Meetups

When? 

It happens bimonthly, and the next confirmed date is the 27th of January 2022.

Where?

The event is online, live-streamed via Twitch, but its base is Saarland Germany.

What?

The love child of the cooperation between anynines and p3r, this event has come a long way since its first edition and had amazing speakers from all over the world talking about anything cloud-native, their own journey and experience, tech teams management, technical lectures, and the importance of community.

In its fourth edition, the Cloud Native Saar Meetup became an official CNCF chapter, and it opened a Twitter channel to announce dates, speakers and other details about its upcoming and past events. 

Participation in the meetups are free, all you have to do is save the date for the next one, and be there online. You can also participate in live Q&A with the speakers, and there are always competitions with giveaways from O’Reilly.

CloudNativeCon EU and NA

When?

The European event happens between the 18th and 20th of May 2022. Meanwhile, the North American version will happen from 25th to 28th of October.

Where?

CloudNativeCon EU will be in Valencia, Spain and NA will take place in Detroit, US. 

What?

This initiative is hosted by Cloud Native Computing Foundation and has become a keystone for technical users and business professionals seeking to increase cloud-native knowledge. 

The events have moved to an entirely remote model for its 2020 season due to the pandemic, but in 2021 went back to having the in-person event as well.

KubeCon EU and NA

When?

KubeCon occurs in coordination with CloudNativeCon, this way the European event happens on the same dates, between 18th and 20th of May 2022. As well as the North American version that will happen from 25th to 28th of October.

Where?

The event occurs in the same locations as well, CloudNativeCon EU will be in Valencia, Spain and NA will take place in Detroit, US. 

What?

The KubeCon events are too a CNCF initiative, the events happen in parallel with CloudNativeCon, and is perhaps the most important event for professionals interested in the field of Kubernetes. 

The events seek to enable collaboration with industry peers and thought leaders.

DoK Day

When?

The first DoK Day EU happened on May 3rd 2021. Whilst DoK Day NA is an event that happened in parallel with KubeCon NA. 

Although the date hasn’t been announced yet, we can expect it will happen one day between the 25th and 28th of October 2022.

Where?

The event had its first editions in 2021 and it took place in Europe remotely, and North America in Los Angeles, US. The location of 2022 is still to be announced.

What?

The Data on Kubernetes Community was founded in 2020 and is an openly governed group of brilliant practitioners, and was inspired by the CNCF and Apache Software Foundation.

As Kubernetes is increasingly used to run databases and other workloads, DoK Day was created to share use cases, techniques, and best practices between and with the community inside and outside DoKC.

FemTechConf

When?

In 2021 the event was hosted between September 24th and 25th, and dates for 2022 are still to be announced.

Where?

The event occurs fully remotely through their own platform.

What?

The event is a female-founded tech conference to empower women in the tech community. 

They host tech talks catered for all levels of professionals in the community. The initiative is about bringing inspiration and motivation, as well as networking.

Open Source Summit EU and NA

When?

The North American version occurs between the 21st and 24th of June 2022 and the European on the 13th to the 16th of September 2022.

Where?

The events are set to take place in Austin, US and Dublin, IE.

What? 

The event was created in 2009 by the Linux Foundation and is formerly known as LinuxCon.

Initially, the event happened exclusively in North America and has since then grown to Europe and Japan.

The events have been increasingly used as a platform for open-source thought leaders, influencers, hiring managers, professionals, and developers in information technology to talk about the technological landscape and make major announcements.
