用户购买一台新电脑之后，第一件事通常是下载自己常用的浏览器，Chrome 是目前市场占有率最高的浏览器，许多 Windows 用户会在首次安装后使用预装的浏览器如 Edge 去下载 Chrome，现在微软被发现开始在 Windows 10 和 Windows 11 操作系统上尝试阻止用户下载 Chrome。当用户浏览 Chrome 下载页时，系统会弹出提示，称“Microsoft Edge 运行的技术与 Chrome 相同，并且有着来自微软的信任” ，“Chrome 源自 2008 年，Microsoft Edge 是最新的浏览器”，“Microsoft Edge 是在线购物的最佳浏览器”。
