Google Parent Company Chair to Attend T-EDGE Conference

BEIJING, November 24 (TMTPOST) — Dr. John Hennessy, the chairman of Google's parent company Alphabet Inc., has confirmed that he will attend the 2021 T-EDGE Conference & Awards hosted by TMTPost.

Dr. Hennessy is an outstanding scientist. He won the 2017 ACM A.M. Turing Award, along with retired UC Berkley professor David A. Patterson. He co-wrote Computer Architecture: A Quantitative Approach with Patterson, a popular academic work that is now considered a must-read in the field of computer architecture. In 2018, Dr. Hennessy became Chairman of Alphabet, the parent company of Google.

Meanwhile, he is a brilliant educator. Following joining Stanford’s faculty in 1977, he became the president of the prestigious university from 1999 to 2016. At Stanford, Dr. Hennessy is known for his achievement in turning lab science into products. As the president of the university, Dr. Hennessy had witnessed the rise of major international tech giants today, including Google, Apple, Facebook and Twitter.

Dr. Hennessy is also an entrepreneur. In 1984, he founded MIPS computer system company and later sold it to Silicon Graphics International in 1992. He co-founded Atheros, which set the trends of WIFI. Atheros ended up being acquired by Qualcomm and he returned to Stanford University School of Engineering as the dean. He earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Villanova University and his master’s and doctoral degrees in computer science from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. 

At the 2021 T-EDGE Conference, Dr. Hennessy will be sharing his insights into the trends and challenges in deep learning and semiconductor technologies, as well as important breakthroughs in computer technologies.

The 2021 T-EDGE Conference & Awards, under the theme “New Mindset”, will be held from December 9 to December 10 in Beijing, China. The conference will consist of an online and offline summit, an award ceremony, and several closed-door seminars, featuring sharing sessions that will be attended by leaders and innovators across the globe.
