Checked or unchecked? Strangely worded Safari preference!
If you check it, then you're saying let advertisers measure what you're doing, but without associating "ad activity" (whatever that means) with you.
On the other hand, what does the *unchecked* choice mean?
It could mean "Let advertisers measure how they're doing, by tracking you and measuring whether you respond to ads and associating personal info with you." That is, disregarding your privacy.
Or, it could mean, "Don't allow advertisers to track you, regardless of associating it with you."
I had been leaving this unchecked, but maybe I need to check it. But I really don't want to let advertisers measure how they're doing.
Of course, it all be an illusion, anyway!
I'd prefer to see this choice--much clearer and much more privacy friendly:
"Block all measurement of ad effectiveness."
