太阳最近进入了活跃期：太阳活跃区域 AR 2887 在 10 月 28 日 07:40 和 10:28 UTC 释放出两个 M 级耀斑，15:35 UTC 释放出一个 X1.0 级耀斑（X 级是最高强度的耀斑），朝地球方向喷发出日冕物质抛射，预计将于 10 月 30 日影响地球，产生 G3 级地磁风暴。地磁风暴强度范围从 G1 到 G5，G3 级地磁风暴会在高纬度地区引发输电系统的电压不稳，在北方产生极光。 太阳目前处于从 2019 年 12 月开始的 11 年活动周期的早期。
