Linus Torvalds 在内核邮件列表上宣布释出 Linux 5.15，该版本的 commit 数是 5.x 系列最少。主要新变化包括：Paragon Software 开发的 NTFS3 内核驱动，改进对微软 NTFS 文件系统的支持；新内核模块 KSMBD 实现了服务器端 SMB3 协议；在 DRAM 满的情况下内存页的内容转移到持久性内存而不是直接丢弃；Btrfs 文件系统加入了对 fs-verity 和 id mapping 的支持；监视特定用户空间进程内存访问模式的 DAMON（代表 Data Access MONitor）；process_mrelease(2)系统调用；Real Time locking progress；cgroup支持 SCHED_IDLE；printk() indexing，等等，更多可浏览 KernelNewbies 5.15。
