Every inexperienced UX designer makes this mistake.

Hi readers, a new day with a new blog for you guys to read. Today we will be learning about the process of creating wireframes and what are the silly mistakes they do while creating. So let’s get started.

Wireframes are basically a prototype of any software, website or application that designers create to visualize the flow of the work. There are various ways to create prototypes like sketching on paper, on iPad or digitally on Figma. It looks somewhat like this.

Beginners generally use A4 paper for sketching, and gradually move on to grid papers to sketch on iPad. The process of sketching wireframe is utmost important for designer as they get a clarity of what they are sketching, but before that one needs to understand what to sketch. You can’t just wake up in the morning and start sketching any wireframes. That’s a sheer waste of time. You need to understand “why” to sketch the wireframes and “how” you can do it.

Sketching wireframes is a secondary thing in the process. The primary thing is research and understanding the domain. You cannot create anything in this world without research. If you are doing it, then either you are god who knows everything or a liar who knows nothing. Research is the base of all things.

Taking an example that you want to create an investment website for a client who wants to create a better website than their competitors. Without the knowledge of the competitors products and services how could you move forward ? You will be clueless of what to sketch and how to sketch. You need to understand the domain and do a deep research before sketching wireframes.

As Abraham Lincoln is often quoted “If I had eight hours to chop down a tree, I’d spend six sharpening my axe”.

Every UX designer does this same mistake while creating the wireframes. They directly start sketching clueless and when they are stuck at some point they have to start again with research.

Always go with the flow and the process.

Thanks for reading.
