美法院表示谷歌翻译“有用”但不足以征得同意
当一名警察在美国州际公路上拦下一辆汽车并询问司机是否同意对其车辆进行搜查时，碰巧司机似乎英语水平有限（LEP）。警官随后掏出手机，开始用谷歌翻译与司机进行对话。
似乎在司机同意后，该警官搜查了汽车并发现了违禁品。但在案件提交到法院时，法官却裁定，在获得LEP司机的搜查同意方面，谷歌翻译是不够的。
Slator 在2018年曾报道过一个类似案件，法院同样判决司机胜诉，并表示“依靠谷歌翻译来获准进行非法搜查是不合理的"。因此，法院批准了司机的请求，取消了搜查结果——14磅的可卡因和冰毒。
2020年2月11日，另一位法官在执笔裁决时引用了2018年的裁决，同意谷歌翻译在应用于类似案件时是不够的。不过这次法官没有批准司机的请求——取消搜查结果：一大包阿片类药物芬太尼。
