NBA Chooses Kuaishou as short-video content partner in China
13 hours agoThe National Basketball Association (NBA) has chosen Hong-Kong listed Kuaishou Technology as operator of its short video content in China.

Under the agreement, Kuaishou will recreate the content of NBA and promote it on its platform. “Kuaishou will become the first media partner of NBA China for content recreation, two parties aims to develop a new interactive ecosystem for sports content that includes cooperation in brand commercialization, livestreaming e-commerce, as well as TV programs.
NBA’s deal made Kuaishou the second online content platform to partner with the NBA after Tencent inked a deal with NBA to live-stream NBA games on sport channel of its news aggregators.
Kuaishou had 513 million monthly active users(MAU) as of June 2021, according to its latest report. In comparison, its biggest rival Douyin, Tiktok’s domestic version, had more than 600 million MAU as of August 2020, Bytedance’s CEO Zhang Nan revealed the number during its annual content creator event. Douyin has also made efforts to enrich its sport content.
In June, 2020, Douyin has inked a two-year deal with English Premier League Manchester City to promote its brand and engage with millions of fans in China. Douyin run exclusive content such as interviews, match highlights, documentaries and event for Manchester City Manchester City has also allowed Douyin to launch themed challenges on the short video platform, and release more content at critical time such as major international events.
