10月4日，因工程师错误发出指令导致Facebook大规模宕机，Facebook、Instagram、Whatsapp等应用陷入瘫痪，Oculus应用、商店以及Oculus网站等Facebook服务也因此下线。
当日Oculus 设备的所有者仍然可以启动已安装的应用程序，使用 Oculus 云存储的应用程序除外。据了解， 这次大规模宕机时间维持了大约6个小时。
Facebook首席技术官 (CTO) Mike Schroepfer对此致歉，并将此次问题的责任归咎于“网络问题”，除此之外，没有进行其他说明。据说，此次宕机导致用户数据大量泄露，在黑客论坛上有超过15亿Facebook用户的数据被出售。
