It's so easy to add misspelled words to your phone's dictionary. But it's also easy to fix. Here's how to remove learned words from Gboard.

A fun fact you may not be aware of is that your keyboard learns to adapt to your writing style and patterns. It learns and saves unfamiliar words to make typing more convenient for you. However, it also tends to save misspelled words. To remove these words, you will have to delete them from your keyboard.

Your keyboard also tends to save any unfamiliar words you may have happened to type on a spur. If your friends or family use your phone, there's a chance when they type, your phone may display those words as suggestions. You will want to get rid of them before that can happen.

Our guide will show you how to remove learned words from Gboard, the most popular Android keyboard app.

How to Remove Learned Words From Gboard

To delete the learned words from your Android device, follow the steps listed below.

  1. Access your settings from either the top navigation bar or the gear icon. Scroll down and select System.
  2. Go to Languages & input > Virtual keyboard > Gboard.
  3. Select Dictionary > Personal dictionary.

You will now have the option of selecting the language from which you wish to remove words. Select All languages to view all your words or for a specific language for that language's results. You will now be able to see a list of saved words.

Select the word you wish to remove and click the trash icon presented in the top-right corner of the screen. Repeat for every word you want to remove from your dictionary.
