ClassDojo is a simple collaboration app for teachers and parents. Together, parents and teachers can use ClassDojo to improve collaboration, communication, and education. Additionally, it's easy to use and offers many useful features for parents and teachers alike.

What Is ClassDojo?

ClassDojo is a digital sharing platform, a great bridge between home and school. Throughout the school day, teachers can update parents and caregivers with photos, videos, and other content.

For example, teachers can send important reminders and upload photos of field trips right to the app. Parents can then check out what their child is doing, ask questions, and more.

Another critical component of the app is the Points feature. Teachers can reward students for their positive behavior by giving them points inside the app. Or, teachers can alert parents of behavior that needs work via the same point system. At home, parents can use the app to give their child rewards based on their number of points.

How to Use ClassDojo to Collaborate With Your Child's Teacher

To sign-up for ClassDojo as a parent, you can simply visit the app's website or download the ClassDojo app. If you wish to sign into your child's student account, your teacher may give you a QR code to scan or a class text code. Or, you can sign in using your school-provided Google login.

Navigating the App

Once you're in the app, you can easily switch between your profile and your child's profile by selecting the dropdown in the top left corner of your screen.

On your main profile, also called the Story View, you'll find the Daily Report and Stories, which is where you'll find images, videos, reminders, and more from your child's teacher. Feel free to like or comment to share your excitement over your child's accomplishments.

Sending Private Messages

To send a private message to your child's teacher:

1. Select Messages from the bottom menu. Here, you'll find a list of everyone you're able to message.
2. Select the individual you wish to message and type out your message inside the box. You can also take a photo, add images, or use emojis inside your message.
3. Once you're ready, select the Send icon and off it goes!

Viewing Weekly Reports

To view your child's weekly report:

1. Select Kids on the bottom menu.
2. Under the child's name you wish to review the report for, select View report.
3. Select School or Home at the top of your screen to toggle between reports.

ClassDojo Plus allows you to also view monthly and yearly reports. If you have access to those, all you must do is select and view.

Giving Your Child Points & Offering Rewards

ClassDojo allows you to give your child points for both doing well in school and at home.

To give your child a point for a good report from school, simply select Applaud [Your Child's Name] inside the Daily Report item in Story view. This will add a point to their Home report.

To give your child a point for a task at home:

1. Select Points from the bottom menu.
2. Scroll until you find the task or item you wish to reward a point for. Then, select it. The point will be added to the Home report.

It's important to note that ClassDojo limits the number of points you can give your child each day. For unlimited points, you'll need a ClassDojo Plus account.

And now for the best part! To reward your child for a job well done:

1. Select Points from the bottom menu.
2. Select Give a reward.
3. Scroll until you find the reward you wish to give and select it. Then, choose Award. The number of points the reward costs will be deducted from your child's total.
