Hong Kong-based Crypto.com to put logo on Philadelphia 76ers’ jersey and launch NFTs

According to the United States' National Basketball Association (NBA) website, the fastest-growing Hong Kong-based crypto platform Crypto.com has announced its partnership with the Philadelphia 76ers. With more than 10 million users worldwide, Crypto.com made its first effort in the NBA.

The patch will make its debut at the preseason when the 76ers face the Toronto Raptors on Oct. 4.

US sports business media Sportico reported that the 76ers will receive more than $10 million a year, making the deal one of the league's five largest jersey patch sponsorships.

As part of the multi-year agreement, the 76ers will also launch their first-ever non-fungible tokens (NFTs) through the Crypto.com platform later this year.

Context:

It's getting hotter in the crypto-sports space. Another experiment is fan tokens, crypto tokens tailored to a club designed to give fans a vote, which sometimes means deciding the music at the home stadium or the design of the team bus.

According to Bloomberg, Crypto.com, founded in 2016, now has sports sponsorship deals in place worth more than $400 million in total.

The company also holds partnerships with Formula One, Italian soccer's Serie A, French club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), and the National Hockey League's (NHL) Montreal Canadiens.
