Huawei Cloud has created and hired its first virtual human employee, YunSheng, according to Ping'an Zhang, CEO of Huawei Cloud, at Huawei CONNECT 2021, an industry conference.

YunSheng is designed to be a 23 years-old female with short red hair, wearing glasses, a hoodie, and blue jeans — in a nutshell, she looks like an energetic, smart geek. On her first day of work, YunSheng posted on Weibo: "#firstdayofwork# #huawei# #employee card check#Metaverse has come, how about me as an employee?" (Translated by Pingwest)

According to Huawei Cloud, YunSheng can have conversations, write couplets, give presentations, and do live-streaming.

At the conference, Eric Xu, Huawei Rotating Chairman, expounded Huawei's cloud service. This technological infrastructure made YunSheng possible: Huawei Cloud has attracted 2.3 million developers, 14,000 consulting partners, 6,000 technical partners and released 4,500 Marketplace products, covering more than 170 countries and regions.

Huawei Cloud will continue to help industries digitize their workflows, such as advancing their digital content production line to automate film and television production.

Context:

Huawei's Yunsheng comes after Xiaoyang, a virtual host for China's CCTV developed by Baidu AI Cloud. China's CCTV has also launched four virtual hosts previously, and each resembles the appearance and characteristics of four CCTV human hosts.

Virtual host Yaoyao of MangoTV, one of China's biggest video streaming and broadcasting enterprise, also made her debut at an industry conference last week.
